Standard Service
We offer a complete book distribution service that equips our clients for publishing in the 21st century. We believe we can make a considerable difference to your business, allowing you to spend more time on what is at its core – publishing. As standard we offer:
Title Listing
A title listing is created on our system for all of your titles (both live and not yet published). Information such as price and availability is regularly transmitted to key customers and the main bibliographic databases.
Goods In
We have a fast and efficient stock receiving process, and subject to our standard Goods Inwards procedures, stock is checked as it is received and any obvious damages, faults or shortages are reported to the publisher within 24 hours of receipt.
Warehousing and stock management
We guarantee safe storage of publisher's stock. Stock movements are recorded on our sophisticated stock management system, allowing easy identification of your titles at any time. A full physical stock take is carried out once a year.
Customer care
With over 4,000 UK account holders, and over 1,000 overseas account holders, BookSource already enjoys strong, well-developed relationships with key bookselling chains, individual stores and a vast number of other customers. In effect, we act as our publishers’ Customer Services department, letting our clients use our contact details for customer orders and enquiries.
Order collection
Our Customer Service team collects all orders from trade and private customers via telephone, fax, email, post and tele-ordering and BookSource also has direct EDI trading partnerships with key customers.
Order assembly and despatch
Orders are quickly and carefully assembled and packed, and due to our excellent working relationship with major carriers we ensure an efficient despatch of orders.
Invoicing & Credit Control
Over the years our credit control department has gained an excellent, industry-wide reputation. A fully accountable cash collection and publisher payment process ensures the most secure form of cashflow for each of our clients. All invoices and cash received are processed and held separately from BookSource’s own turnover in an account protected by Trust status. We are proud to be affiliated with Batch.co.uk, making the payment of invoices much easier.
Returns management
We have extensive experience of authorising, receiving and handling returns and issuing credits. We are currently working towards full compliance with the UK Industry Returns Initiative.
Reporting
Quality reporting is vital for publishers to efficiently run their business. They need to know which customers are ordering which titles, how many units have been sold, when to carry out a reprint and of what size etc. Our on-line reporting system, InfoSource, provides our client publishers with all the information they need to make important day-to-day decisions. If you are a client publisher and would like to access your information, please click on the InfoSource page. If you require more information about this service please contact .

“BookSource's service provision to publishers is excellent - they understand that publishing is a highly dynamic industry with the constant need to evolve.”
