Warehousing and stock management
We guarantee safe storage of publishers' stock. Stock movements are recorded on our sophisticated stock management system, allowing easy identification of a publisher's titles at any time. A full physical stock take is carried out once a year.
Our Customer Service team processes all orders from trade and private customers and we have direct EDI trading partnerships with many key customers. Orders are quickly and carefully picked and packed, and all of our parcel and pallet carriers provide a full track and trace service. DPD offers an SMS text message or email service direct to the consumer advising them when their parcel will be delivered within a one-hour window, and includes an easy option to change dates or delivery times if required.
Order processing and fulfilment
Over the years our credit control department has gained an excellent industry-wide reputation and the protection of our client publishers is one of our founding principles. All cash receipts are held separately from the company's own funds and are firmly protected by trust status until they are transferred to publishers. We are proud to be affiliated with Batch.co.uk, making the payment of invoices much easier.
InfoSource, our online reporting system, allows publishers to access all the information they need to run their business efficiently at the click of a button. InfoSource provides real-time detailed information about sales, orders in progress, stock, backorders and cash.
Whether re-invigorating your backlist or maximising returns on new titles, eBooks give you instant access to a new and potentially global market. While simplicity and speed of access are at the heart of eBook publishing, when it comes to exploiting eBooks there are a number of challenges for small and medium-sized publishers.
BookSource is here to help by offering you a comprehensive eBook service. The file conversion is outsourced to a reputable conversion house and we manage the metadata, distribution and sales reporting in-house. We also take care of the complex eBook VAT and royalty calculations.
Access to the Bookmaster Royalties module can be provided if client publishers require it.
PIMS is our Publisher Information and Marketing service. The aims are two-fold – to help our publishers sell more books and to take over the information management and administration side of publishing to leave publishers with more time to concentrate on developing their lists.
In partnership with several reputable UK printers, we offer our client publishers the ability to print one book at a time to fulfil a particular order, or to replenish stock to an agreed level so a title is always available and ready to be despatched from our warehouse. PoD allows a publisher to maximise sales of backlist or specialist titles while keeping storage costs to an absolute minimum.
